NEW TYPES OF INDIVIDUAL MOBILITY: UTAC CERAM TESTS ADAS SYSTEMS IN NEW USE CASES
UTAC CERAM , together with the Road Safety Delegation of the French Ministry of the Interior, has just finalized the study of the reaction of vehicle ADAS systems when faced with the users of electric scooters. This project, was concieved around an accident study and then a physical survey in the streets of Paris, and was carried out in order to collect the information necessary for the development of future test scenarios involving these new modes of personal city-mobility.
A test target was prototyped by the UTAC CERAM team and its use made it possible to evaluate the main types of step-on scooters that are found on the streets of Paris. Two vehicles from different ranges have been tested using 3 test scenarios: The first vehicle was a Peugeot 208 (MY2019) and the second, aTesla Model 3 (MY2019). Their ADAS reactions to this new type of road user target, which have previously never been included in the Euro NCAP protocols, were studied and evaluated according to an Euro NCAP type grid. The objective of this project is to propose, in the long term, new Euro NCAP evaluation protocols, as the consideration of these new road users by car manufacturers remains a major challenge.
