New AEB tests at Montlhéry
New test scenarios developed as part of a joint project with the Fondation MAIF.
As part of a joint project with the Fondation MAIF to "improve the protection of vulnerable users", the CSA department has developed new AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) test scenarios. The most significant new feature concerns the ability to carry out night-time testing in realistic situations. For this purpose, lights with adjustable brightness have been developed to simulate different lighting conditions.
Assessment of night AEB system performances will be included in the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) rating as from 2018. Moreover, other scenarios have also been developed such as the "longitudinal" scenario, which is very prone to accidents for vulnerable users (pedestrians and cyclists).
